Wer mich kennt, weiß, dass ich eine Abenteurerin bin. Man weiß aber auch, dass ich schöne Dinge mag und mir mein Schlaf heilig ist. Deshalb kommt ab und zu das Luxusweibchen in mir durch und dieses möchte in absolut durchgestylten Hotels verwöhnt werden. An diese fünf speziellen Unterkünfte denke ich immer noch sehr gerne zurück und ich kann sie euch nur wärmstens ans Herz legen:
My closest friends know, that I'm an adventurous soul. They also know, that I like pretty things and having a good and decent rest. What shall I say, sometimes a woman needs a little luxury in a very well designed hotel. Below I want to show you 5 of my most favourite ones:
1. HAYMARKET BY SCANDIC – Stockholm
Seitdem ich rausgefunden habe, dass ich schwedische Wurzeln habe, mag ich den Norden noch viel lieber. Skandinavien ist so einfach, so unkompliziert und für mich ein riesengroßer Inspirationsteich. Speziell im Haymarket by Scandic liefen meine Sinne auf Hochtouren. Hier trifft der Geist der Roaring Twenties auf das 21. Jahrhundert. Das Haymarket war früher einmal ein Einkaufszentrum, das zu einem Hotel umgebaut wurde und Stockholm seit 2016 bereichert. Die Lage ist perfekt und wir konnten ganz Stockholm zu Fuß wunderbar erreichen.
This year I found out that I'm of northern origin – well that explains why I'm so in love with Scandinavian countries. They're just so easy-going and so utterly inspirational. That feeling was very outgrowing in the wonderful Haymarket by Scandic. This place is a melting pot of the roaring twenties and the 21st century. Once upon a time it was an old shopping center which opened his doors as a unique hotel in 2019 in the center of Stockholm.
Unbedingt auf einen Cocktail in der Bar vorbeischauen! Die Cocktails sind nicht nur für Gaumen und Augen ein Genuss sondern auch ein olfaktorisches Meisterwerk.
You have to stop by in the on-site cocktailbar. The drinks here are just heaven! Not only the taste but also the look and the smell of the potions are magical!
2. ALPEN-KARAWANSERAI – Hinterglemm
Man kann wohl sagen, dass die Alpen-Karawanserai Schuld ist, an Herzis und meinem exquisiten Urlaubsstil. Als wir beide 2014 vom Hotel auf 3 Nächte in ihrer bezaubernden Bernsteinsuite eingeladen wurden, sind wir auf den Geschmack gekommen. Hier trifft Orient auf Okzident. Der hauseigene Amber Spa erstreckt sich auf 2.500 m2 und bietet neben 7 Saunen und 2 Pools alles was das Herz begehrt. Wir sind sehr gern im Herbst hier zu Gast, um unsere Batterien vorm Jahresendspurt noch einmal aufzuladen. Im Herbst ist alles so herrlich entschleunigt in Hinterglemm.
Our exquisit vacation choices origin in our holiday in the Alpen-Karawanserei in 2014. Back then the hotel invites us to stay 3 nights in their fabulous Amber-suite. And guys, that's where it all began. Where east meets west, were the orient meets the occident. In the 2.500 m2 inhouse Amber Spa you can relay in 7 saunas and 2 pools. We love to stay here during autumn to reset our batteries for kickstarting into the new year. Hinterglemm seems to slow down around this time of the year.
Aber auch die Skisaison ist traumhaft, obwohl von Entschleunigung dann keine Spur mehr ist ;). Wir jagen die Pisten hinunter und nach einem 8-stündigen Skitag ist so ein 6-Gänge-Menü mit Weinbegleitung genau das Richtige.
During ski season it's dreamy as well, though the feeling is completely different. The town is full of life, people are drinking and laughing everywhere and enjoying the snowy mountains. After an eight hour ski day nothing is better than having a good glass of wine accompanied by a six course dinner.
3. PARADISE BAY – Exuma Bahamas
Ich hab mir ja nun schon einige Orte an diesem wunderschönen Fleckchen Erde angesehen, aber bis dato konnte nichts der Insel Exuma auf den Bahamas das Wasser reichen! Paradise Bay ist zwar "nur" ein 3-Sterne Bed & Breakfast, die Location und der Zauber von Farmer's Hill machen es aber einfach unschlagbar. Wir hatten ein eigenes Cottage direkt am Strand, erste Reihe fußfrei! Die Cottages sind sehr liebevoll hergerichtet und richtig gemütlich. Das Basis-Frühstück im Restaurant La Fourchette war zwar etwas wenig, gegen einen kleinen Aufpreis konnte man aber á la carte bestellen. (Lieber mit mehr Geld rechnen, die Bahamas sind wirklich nicht billig...)
In the few years of me wandering around the globe, if already seen lots of wonderful places, but nothing came close to Exuma Bahamas. Paradise Bay is however just a 3 Star B&B, but it's for sure a very special and magical place. Our home was a little cottage centered directly on the beach. All of the cabines where built with love and I felt very comfortable there. The breakfast was very basical in the restaurant La Fourchette but for a little extra charge you could order from the menu. (People, be aware, the Bahamas are NOT cheap)
Das allerbeste an diesem Hotel war aber, dass wir teilweise wirklich die einzigen Gäste am kilometerlangen weißen Sandstrand waren. Zwei Besucher, die wir ab und zu hatten, war ein neugieriges Stachelrochenpärchen, das uns Gesellschaft leistete. Der ganze Urlaub ist für mich immer noch sehr surreal. Mein Herz schlägt schneller, wenn ich an diesen wunderbaren Ort zurückdenke!
I think what made this hotel so special to us was the fact that we were the only guests on the whole beach. Well, actually that's not entirely true, from time to time two sting ray stopped by to say hello. The whole vacation seems still very surreal to me and I'm filled with so much joy when I think back to the days at Farmer's Hill.
4. HARD ROCK HOTEL – Orlando
Ich kann es mir bis heute nicht erklären und ich werde mich auch wirklich nicht darüber beschweren, aber mein Liebster und ich werden immer wieder einfach so upgegraded bei unseren Hotelaufenthalten. Das erste Mal passierte uns das im Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando. Queen Venus bekam endlich den passenden Titel – Rock Royalty! Wir bezogen eine der 5 Suiten bei insgesamt 650 Zimmern und hatten einen eigenen Floor, wo man nur mit spezieller Karte Zutritt hatte. Auf diesem Floor waren auch Essen und Getränke gratis. Unsere Suite bestand aus 2 Zimmern, 2 Bädern, einem begehbaren Kleiderschrank und einem Ankleidezimmer, kurzum: Die Suite war größer als unsere damalige Wohnung.
What keeps happening to me and my love – and I will for sure not complain about this one – is that we get upgraded a lot by different accommodations. First time this happened to us was during our stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando Florida. Queen Venus finally got her proper crown – Rock Royalty! We've been upgraded to one of the 5 suites in the 650 room big hotel. We even got our own floor, which was just reachable with a special card. All amenities on this floor were for free. Our suite consisted of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a walkin closet and a big hallway – all in all it was bigger than our flat at home at this moment.
Auch die Poolarea war "very exclusive". Wir hatten unseren eigenen Kellner, der uns (fast) alles brachte was unser Herz begehrte – Poké-Bowl and Bloody Mary for breakfast? YES PLEASE!
Noch dazu bekamen wir durch unseren Aufenthalt im Hard Rock Hotel einen Express Pass für die Universal Studios und durften 1 Stunde vor allen anderen bereits in den Park!
The poolarea was very exclusive too. We've been assigned our own waiter, who took very good care of us. I mean Poké-Bowl and Bloody Mary for breakfast? YES PLEASE! As an add on we got an Express Pass for the Universal Studios during our stay at the Hard Rock Hotel and we were allowed to enter the park 1 hour before the other guests.
5. KIMPTON EPIC HOTEL – Miami
Das Kimpton Epic ist – wie der Name schon sagt – epic! Bereits die Auffahrt zum Hotel ist einschüchternd... links gibt es einen Anlegeplatz für Yachten, rechts von dir parkt ein Pagani.
Und wenn du das Hotel betrittst bleibt dir erst einmal der Atem weg, vor lauter Stil. Riesige Luster hängen als Centerpieces von der Decke. Mit meinen ausgelatschten Vans und meiner Ripped Jeans kam ich mir hier fast ein bisschen underdressed vor. Das Hotel verwöhnt mit einem der besten Sushi Restaurants in Downtown Miami und die Aussicht auf die Skyline ist beeindruckend.
Nomen est omen: The Kimpton Epic was in one word simply epic! Entering the driveway to the Hotel was already intimidating. A few yachts were parking to our left while a Pagani was parking to our right. Entering the hotel left you speachless, the interior was stunning. Rosecolored lusters were the centerpieces of the huge hallway. I felt a little bit underdressed in my old vans and my ripped jeans. One of the best sushi places in Miami is located in the Kimpton Epic and the view of Downtown Miami is just breathtaking.
Die Zimmern waren sehr geräumig und die Badewanne glich mehr einem Warmwasserbecken. Alles ist hier auf Verwöhnen ausgerichtet. Leider konnten wir den Pool nicht richtig nutzen, da das Wetter etwas rauer war (Stichwort Weltuntergangsstimmung – dürfte aber für Florida ganz normal sein, wie wir später festgestellt haben). Trotzdem ließen wir uns unser Frühstück auf dem Balkon nicht verderben. Breakfast-Burritos ftw!
The rooms were spacious and the bathtub resembled more a little pool. Every inch of the room wants you to relax. Unfortunately we couldn't test the pool because the weather was not in our favor (in Europe we call this the end of the world – in Florida it's called BBQ weather...) Nevertheless we enjoyed our breakfast on our balcony. Breakfast-Burritos make everything even again!
